Farah Chirene Fortune, founder & director of African Star Communications (ASC) is a well-known business woman behind many successful celebrity & corporate brands.

She is better known to her clients & industry peers as “The Pitbull in Heels”. Farah was born in South Africa but spent most of her childhood and earlier adult years living in different parts of Europe, before moving back to South Africa in February 2004.

Earlier on in her career she worked as a Publicist for Ster-Kinekor and as an editor at Alchemy Publishing just to name a few. Her PR career took off by working on big projects such as the Oscar-winning movie “Tsotsi” and later decided to pursue her own PR dreams.
Farah singlehandedly started ASC in 2008 with R1000 in her pocket, a laptop and cell phone on her bedroom floor, believing one day she would be operating a fully functional agency.

African Star Communications functions through 3 divisions comprising of Celebrity/ Corporate Public Relations & Event Management. The company only takes five celebrity clients a year to ensure everyone gets the personal attention required.
Her first project being with ASC was with AIG and Manchester United for the Vodacom challenge just 3 weeks after opening the company.
She has gone on to grow her company and become one of biggest household names for celebrity and corporate PR in South Africa and opened up an office in Lagos, Nigeria in 2011.

Through her company ASC, Farah has worked on PR & events for corporates such as Ice Watch, African Romance for Miss world 2008, Special Olympics Campaign, Coca- Cola Confederations Cup 2009, Vuvuzela Eat & Sleep, Nandos Peri-Deli, The Dudu Zuma Foundation, Nappy Run, Gert-Johan Coetzee and African International Hair Extravaganza to name just a few.

Over the seven years of the existence of ASC, Farah has handled celebrity clients that are spread over several industries including, musicians, AKA & Cassper Nyovest, Actresses; Pam Andrews & Terry Pheto, Miss SA 2007 Tansey Coetzee, Presenter & MC; Liezel van der Westhuizen, Model & Footballer; Ryan Botha and Radio Host; Mpho Madise (Mo-G) & Comedian Jason Goliath. These are just some of the clients that have been on the books of African Star Communications.

Since the start of ASC in 2008, Farah has been awarded for her achievements, such as being included on the Mail & Guardian “TOP 200 SOUTH AFRICANS” list in 2011 & in 2012 she was featured in the Annual Cool & Black Directory.
Farah’s most recent achievement is testament to the fact that hard work pays off, as she has been awarded with the ‘WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP’ award in Mumbai, India in February 2014 from the Women’s World Leadership Congress 2014.
July 2016 Farah Fortune was invited and spoke to an audience at TEDX Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Farah has also recently been named as one of the Top 50 Most Impactful Social Innovators (Global Listing) by ‘World CSR Day and World Sustainability’ where she will be presented with her citation in Feb 2017. Farah Fortune has been nominated on the Superbalist 100 list 2016.

Jamila has always been connected to the media and entertainment industry. Her degree in Journalism has helped her carve her career path within the communication industry as a whole.

Although public relations has always featured in Jamila’s professional journey, she has worked as a marketing assistant, social media manager and events coordinator as well.

Jamila is an articulate communicator and flexible team player, and prides herself in her writing and analytical skills. Her fun and energetic spirit gives her positive outlook on life, and she is always up for a challenge no matter how big or how high.

Justine Abrahams – Chief star observer

Justine Abrahams
Justine Abrahams was born and raised in the west of Johannesburg. Completing her matric at ST.Barnabas College in 2009.

Growing up around the music, radio & TV industry, this is where her love for media came in from a very young age as she has always enjoyed the behind the scenes of the media industry. After taking a gap year she had an interest in the PR field & completed her Public Relations Diploma in 2014 at College Campus.

In March 2014, shortly after completing her studies she joined African Star Communications as the Celebrity & Music Publicist.

Lebohang Mosikili – Chief Supernova

Lebohang Mosikili
Lebohang went to Bryanston High school and then did a year of voluntary service, civic engagement and leadership development with City Year South Africa. She then went on to study fashion retail (buying) and fashion media at LISOF, which has the reputation of being the most progressive fashion design school and retail education institution in Africa. This is where she found her passion for PR.

In December 2015 Lebohang joined African Star Communications as the Social Media Manager
